     Every detail of Birdsong Cottage was personally designed with quality and care by designer/builders and landscape architects. The building is free standing and solidly built with many windows and high ceilings for maximum air flow. The furniture is all made of hard woods and is decorative and comfortable. The granite in the kitchen and bath is imported from India. Our guests feel so at home they find it "hard to return to reality".
     The cottage is perfectly situated on a knoll with views in both directions: the mountains on one side and the ocean on the other, each with an outdoor patio. Designed so the trade winds keep the area well ventilated, with 12' high ceiling and fan, you can hear the waves breaking on the reef below where Larsen's beach is still undeveloped and pristine.     

      Monk seals and green sea turtles (both endangered) beach here, and the winter whale watching is spectacular from the trailhead. The Kilauea Lighthouse is down the road in old Kilauea town, the northern most point of the island, with excellent views and guided tours.
     After a busy day of exploring the island, Birdsong Cottage's peaceful setting welcomes you. Take a moonlight soak in the outdoor tub, or a soothing hot shower in the privacy of the outdoor Balinese enclosure. We have a tropical hardwood grove, citrus orchard, avocados, mangos, bananas, papayas, lychee, noni, passionfruit and an organic vegetable garden, all available to you when in season. Catering a special meal, in-house massages with some of the island's best therapists and privately guided tours of the island can all be arranged with advance notice.
